About
I am a systems engineer that’s spent about fifteen years inside other people’s infrastructure — starting on a help desk at a stereo-conversion house, and ending up building the automation that provisions, hardens and audits large estates.
The engineering work is mostly about making large systems legible: automation frameworks across VMware, Windows Server and Linux, identity and access management, hardening baselines applied as code and validated as evidence, and more recently agent systems that plan and use tools against internal APIs. The through-line is the same one that runs through everything else here — an interest in what a system actually does, as opposed to what it is documented to do.
The other half is images and sound. Some of it is photography, shot on film and sequenced in rolls. Some of it is moving image made by deliberately misusing compression, raster scanning and color. A good deal of that work runs on plugins I wrote because the effect I wanted did not exist as a control, only as an accident — which is how a video effect ends up on the software page and the pictures it makes end up on the art page.
I hold a BA in Communication from UC San Diego, completed in 2023 with a 4.0, summa cum laude, where the coursework was mostly about how digital technology and surveillance shape social life. I am currently pursuing doctoral study in Information on the strength of that question.
